Ida Heading Toward the Gulf of Mexico

A tropical system in November?  Yes, it is possible.  The hurricane season for the Atlantic Basin goes until Nov. 30.  As of Saturday afternoon, Tropical Storm Ida continues to churn in the Caribbean Sea.  A Tropical Storm Warning has been posted for the Grand Cayman Islands and the Yucatan Penisula of Mexico.

Ida may become a hurricane tonight or on Sunday.  It is very close to being a hurricane as I write this with winds at 70 m.p.h.  To be a hurricane, winds of at least 74 m.p.h. are needed.  To follow along, click here to get the very latest from the National Hurricane Center.
