Talk about great weather! I suspect most folks will enjoy the gorgeous weather that’s in store this weekend… although maybe not Joe Winters, who’s anxiously awaiting some accumulating snow. The normal high is right around 50° today, but we’ll do much better than that. In fact, many locales were warmer than that to begin with this morning! We’ll be aiming for highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Far southern Iowa, down around Highway 34, could even reach the middle 70s!
Of course, with such a warm surge in November, the question of record highs comes up. It turns out that, although we’ll be about 20 degrees above normal, our record highs are still safe. The record for Cedar Rapids and Iowa City is 79° set in 1915, Dubuque’s 78° in 1915, and Waterloo’s record is 78° set in 2001.
Any way you slice it, today’s weather will be phenomenal for any type of outdoor activity, whether it’s a football game, a jog around the park, or firing up the grill before winter finally does set in.
