Another Quiet Week

January 30th, 2012

Our weather will start out much warmer for this week with highs today well into the 40s pretty much area-wide.  In fact, locations along and south of I-80 will likely see temperatures into the 50s today.  With snowmelt in full swing, one concern will be for some fog development later tonight into Tuesday morning, but should fog or clouds not materialize late tonight into tomorrow, temperatures will take off on Tuesday well into the 50s.  As it stands right now, it seems we’ll have highs into the upper 40s to lower 50 on Tuesday, again, cloud dependent.

When it comes to our overall weather this week, that’ll be quiet as well.  This week’s weather looks very similar to what we saw back in December and early January, however, we have snow on the ground this time.  In terms of the upper air pattern, it’s known as a split flow pattern where systems stay to our north or south, leaving us dry with only passing clouds from time to time.  Temperatures are usually at least 10 degrees above normal in this pattern in the winter, and that’s what we’ll see this week too.

The net result is little to no precip over the next 5 days.  The Southeast looks to get hit again with severe weather, but very inactive weather where we are.  Going into the weekend, there’s a slight chance of flurries Friday night into Saturday, however, that storm may miss to the south as well, leaving us generally partly sunny with at or above normal temperatures.
